What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is an ancient holistic therapy practised predominately on the feet, but often on the hands too. Following illness, stress,
injury or disease, the body is in a state of imbalance and the vital energy pathways are blocked, preventing the body from functioning effectively. By applying various pressure and massage techniques to the feet, the body is stimulated to kick start its own natural ability to heal itself.
The feet are seen as a mirror image of the body, with the toes representing the head, where the toes join the feet are the shoulders, the chest area is represented by the ball of the foot etc. The sensitive trained hands of a reflexologist may detect deposits and imbalances inside the feet and by working on these points/reflexes the therapist may release these blockages and restore the flow of energy/chi to the body.

What happens during a Reflexology treatment?
On your first visit we will chat about your general health, so that I can get a picture of what’s happening both physically and emotionally. Then I will ask you to remove any footwear and socks/hosiery and sit or lie on my couch, which ever suits you. Once you’re comfortable I’ll begin to work on your feet. There may be minor discomfort in some places, this will
pass quickly and is often an indication of congestion or of an imbalance in the corresponding part of the body. For most of the session you will find it a pleasant and relaxing experience. The session lasts about 1 hour, a course of treatment is usually required to feel the real benefits of this holistic therapy;
the number will vary according to individual needs.
After your initial treatment , your body may respond in many ways: you may feel, relaxed, lethargic, nauseous or even emotional, but be rest assured this is only transient and is a sign that your body is responding to the treatment.
